"Buy-a-Brick" PRESS CONFERENCE
HELD
A press conference to officially launch the Norwalk public Library’s 21st
Century Fund Committee “Buy-a-Brick” program was held on Thursday,
September 8, 2005 at 10:30 am at the South Norwalk Branch Library.
Mayor Alex Knopp “set” the first of 3 ceremonial bricks presented
to the City of Norwalk, the 2nd Taxing District, and the Connecticut State
Library for their funding of the extensive renovation and refurbishing now
underway.

Sharon Brettschneider of the
Connecticut state Library, Otha Brown, Jr., Chairmann of the 2nd Taxing
District Boartd of Commissioners, and Mayor Alex Knopp display the engraved
bricks prtesented by the Norwalk Public library Board of Directors at the
inauguaration of the "SoNo Library Book Walk -- Pathway to the Future" brick
walkway.
The “Buy-a-Brick” project was created to augment other efforts underway to
secure funds necessary to assure state-of-the-art computer equipment,
technology, associated software and internet connectivity for the district
of South Norwalk and the Greater Norwalk community.
The “Buy-a-Brick” opportunity is designed to enable public contributions to
the effort by providing a “SoNo Library Book Walk — Pathway to the Future”
inlaid with bricks engraved with the personal sentiment of the contributors.
The South Norwalk Branch Library 21st Century Fund was created by the
Library Board with a total goal of $250,000.
