Mission Statement... The Norwalk Public Library Board is a non-profit organization whose mission and vision is to promote full and equal access to information, to nurture the love of reading, facilitate the joy of learning, and to encourage engagement with the arts, sciences and humanities. The Norwalk Public Library Board, staff, and community look to a future where all individuals and families are eager and engaged life-long learners. We support this through:
▪Experienced staff that reflect the library system’s high level of use and reflect staffing allocations found in the best libraries nationally. ▪Library collections that are broad in scope and depth and in as many formats that encompass the range of human thought and expression and meet the needs and expectations of an increasingly diverse public. ▪Incorporation of new and emerging information technologies as an important part of overall service. ▪Convenient and up-to-date facilities that meet the growing expectations of users for adaptability to new technologies, separate areas for children as well as young adults, “quiet” spaces for study/research and designated space for meetings and programs. ▪A wide range of educational and cultural programming. ▪Active involvement in the community.
